Being inside for all of these months has really had a profound impact on how interiors have been designed for clients during the height of COVID-19.
And now that masks are being lifted, occupancy restrictions cancelled and more and more people are going back into their offices, even on a part time basis, the thing that has begun to take center stage, especially in luxury construction, is massive and expansive windows.
I've heard the longings of my own interior clients, who couldn't stress enough how much they wanted to feel un-confined.
If you live in a home that offers a private courtyard entrance and high walls around the property that prevent people from seeing in, then walls of windows could be just the thing to finally make your space feel expanded. But if privacy comes at a premium where you live, here's a few other ways to appreciate the view.
1. Install top down, bottom up shades. This allows you to expose the room to the outside without exposing yourself.
2. Put reflective UV film on your windows. From the outside anyone looking at the window will only see themselves. While you can look out and see them.
3. Install linear glass panels into an oversized window or door. Then diffuse the panels that are positioned 5' and lower on the door. You'll be able to see out and no one will be able to see you.
Have a room you'd like to let some light shine into.
