Having an area in our homes where we can simply be who we are, without having to wear all of our many hats is critical.
With open concept floorplans in almost every updated or recently remodeled home - sound like your home? - having a corner just for us may come at a premium. But here's a great way to accomplish that within a wide open room. If sitting near the fireplace is what makes your inner you come out, you can create your corner of the room by the fireplace by suspending a 5' wide X 6' long finished piece of drywall from the ceiling & anchored to the floor via wires. Paint the drywall panel the same color as the rest of the room. Adding an art deco piece or one of your favorite artworks to the side that faces the rest of the room, will add interest & excitement while creating a faux separate space. By suspending a panel, that neither touches the ceiling nor the floor, it allows the room to retain visual openness while adding unmistakable interest. Have a room you'd like to consider this for? Life's a beach - right?!
I think so! I was recently approached by a new company that's manufacturing a line of outdoor furnishings and they asked if we'd be interested in rep'ing their line of furnishings here in Arizona. The company is located in sunny California. It took only a few moments of viewing their furniture line to say 'YES' we'll carry the line in our inventory and happily sell it. The designer who created the line began to tell me the story of why he photographs his chairs from the back vs the front, the way most manufacturers do. The chair (or whatever the product is) is the focus after all isn't it? He explained that his furniture is about lifestyle. It's about seeing the life you'll enjoy and how the furnishings play into that life and lifestyle. I have to admit I was enamored with the landscape of this photo. And as I sat daydreaming, I could actually see myself sitting in this chair, watching the sunset as the foam of the late tides puddled around my ankles and birds flew by, as beachcombers walked the shoreline, children played hoping their parents wouldn't say it was time to leave and feeling the warmth of the sun as it set into the sea. I...wanted...this...chair! What do you think? What's your feelings when looking at this photo? Do me a favor, please drop a line below and tell us what you think. We may even use it as a quote when we market this furniture. Really appreciate you. Thanks much! Filling our homes this year will be color, color & more color!
That's not to say calm, relaxing & ohhh I loovvee my house goes out the window, it just means Beige and White should expect company. All colors have a psychological and emotional impact on our attitude. Designers pepper homes with colors, based on what the inhabitants want to experience. The psychological effect of the color Blue, is cold & standoffish. If you're celebrating Blues this season, here's a few things you can do to embrace this amazing color and make it work in all the right ways in your home. 1. Combine Yellow & White with your favorite color Blue furniture. The Yellow and White can be introduced in the form of accessories, pillows, a rug.... 2. Fill the mass of the room's space (walls, floor, furniture) with a primary color like Beige. Then filter in Blue artwork, vases, draperies, planters and more, to make the room a real show-stopper. Remember to mix the tones of the Blue Hues you utilize, vs only using one consistent color of Blue. Blues that have a splash or Purple, Black, Red & Gray look the best when mixed with a neutral palette. 3. Hello Monochrome! Now this is where I get excited!! The color Blue can range from the Black side of the color wheel to the lightest palest White on the opposite end. If you opt for this very Avant-Garde approach, be certain to use lots of metal & glass for your accessories, lighting, tables, consoles, and the like. And when you drop in a soft-light colored rug to finish the space, this may very well become your most favorite room in the house. Pssst. If you're secretly crushing on the 'silver hand' deco piece on the shelf, MOOR | ROOM carries it in their accessories line. Remember to tell 'em I sent you and use CODE: bond25 for a sweet discount. Happy decorating! The past several years, interior styles have been stark to say the least. White, White & oh btw did I mention White, has been everywhere! Wood plank tiles have proliferated throughout households across the nation and Beige, Creme & assorted hues of White have made homes linear & lux.
But over the course of 2020, we all found ourselves slaves to the styles we absolutely adored during the 3 hours a day we actually spent in our homes experiencing them, pre-2020. Now, some interiors are unfriendly, need compartmentalization to allow for personal spaces since we're all in one house day in and day out, and most of all...they need color and warmth. The 2021 interior landscape will find home owners on the hunt for ways to turn their hard environments into softer family homes. And color - oh thank goodness - is finally making it's way home like the prodigal child. The great news is...you may not need to spend thousands revamping your home or retrofitting the rooms. Paramount Design Group has a "Designer for the Day" program and they're using your homes foundational style and core colors as a way to give your home NEW LIFE! When they add in a few new accessories, minor furnishings & infuse your new colors, we promise you'll fall all-the-way-back-in-love with your home. Planning to reach out? Tell them you found them here...a little birdy tells me there's a discount waiting in store for you. Happy decorating! |
